California Building Industry Association
The California Building Industry Association (CBIA) is a statewide trade association representing more than 6,300 companies including homebuilders, trade contractors, architects, engineers, designers, suppliers and other industry professionals. According to a recent study, the homebuilding industry contributes more than $60 billion a year to the state's economy and generates 525,000 jobs.

In response to the hard market insurance crisis affecting its membership in recent years, CBIA led the creation effort and now sponsors the Home Construction Insurance Company (HCIC) which provides a general liability insurance solution for California’s quality-oriented single family residential builders.

HCIC was established after the completion of an exhaustive feasibility study undertaken by an actuarial firm and a captive manager in 2003. CBIA firmly believes in HCIC as a membership benefit that offers its members insurance protection at a reasonable cost while providing the appropriate level of protection to builders, municipalities and lenders.
